Girlhood Editorial.

As we celebrate Bluxies Incorporated @1, we reflect on the beautiful journey and profound friendships we've had to watch grow, from little, shy “hellos” to attending seminars hand-in-hand with the biggest smiles and helping a Bluxie lace up her sandals.

According to Woodrow Wilson, “friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together,” and Bluxies agrees.

At Bluxies, we believe in upholding the bonds of sisterhood, basking in the warmth of female friendships, and honing our femininity. In the words of Bluxie, “Femininity is a gift to mankind.”

Having a circle of girlfriends is one of the most amazing parts of being a girl. Navigating life and adulthood becomes a wholesome journey you're excited to embark on and not an experience you wish away because female friendships are more than just connections. They're a source of strength, growth, and empowerment. They inspire us and help us be better women. Suddenly climbing a mountain doesn't seem so difficult anymore because you have a dozen women who are at the top, cheering for you.

You get through a stormy situation because you have a tribe rowing your boat alongside you.

In one year, Bluxies Incorporated has fostered meaningful relationships amongst its members through the “be your sister's keeper” deliverables, gifting a Bluxie, hangouts and picnics, wellness check-ins, and the most recent activity, “go on a date with a Bluxie.”

Reflecting on the past year's achievements, our members have these to say:

“I've been a bluxie for a year and it is more than just belonging to a community. It's about forming meaningful friendships. Bluxies prioritize lifting each other up and being there for each other. This year with Bluxies has been transformative, marked  by immense growth. I've learned and I'm a changed person now. I'll only grow and evolve from here and I'm glad to be part of this community.

If I want to say everything Bluxies Incorporated has helped me become, bruh we no go go, just know that I've seen the light.” — Gift Okafor.

“I've seen some Bluxies reach out to each other when they needed help. I remember when a member had issues with an online vendor because the vendor wouldn't deliver her dress. Some of the members had to bombard the vendor with calls and the issue got sorted out. That felt so wholesome.

I still remember when Naomi and Rhemmy gave out items to other members. If that isn't girlhood, then I don't know what is.

There are a lot of cool women in Bluxies. One of these days, I might just reach out to someone.” — MaryCynthia Obiagwu

“Bluxies has been such a special place for me. The community, the sisterhood, and everything in between! It fills my heart with so much joy. I feel so blessed to be part of this amazing group of women.

Whenever I’m uncertain about something, I can always reach out to Gift for clarity, and she’s always there to help. She's such an active baddie! I love her.

Naomi is a constant source of encouragement; when I feel lost, she reaches out to remind me that I am seen, loved, and capable. Her words, especially when she shared the quote, “There’s a potential in every woman,” resonate deeply with me. It reminds me that I can achieve anything I set my heart to.

I had a virtual date with the beautiful Favour and she was so sweet. When she first saw me, the first thing she said was, “You’re so beautiful!” I literally blushed so hard—such a genuine and heartfelt compliment. We had the most amazing time bonding over our hobbies and interests, and I’m actively rooting for you, Favour!

Towards the end of August, I was fortunate to join the Port Harcourt Bluxies for a staycation. It was pure joy! I got to meet other beautiful Bluxies, and we danced, played games, watched movies, took beautiful pictures, and created memories that will last forever. We are literally “just girls”

Sisterhood means the world to me, and being a member of Bluxies has truly healed me in ways I never imagined. I love this community so much, and I’m so excited about what the future holds for us all.” — Ruth Enamhegbai

“This year, Bluxies have really been a solid cushion for me. The women around me have inspired me, I have been challenged and held accountable. Having the support and resources the community provides to do exploits is a genuine blessing. One I do not take for granted.

I have had the privilege to attend events, conferences, and summits with the beautiful women in our community. It was wholesome and inspiring. Through the community, I have had the opportunity to meet, listen, and speak to influential people. I have taken certification courses and participated in presentations and programs that have helped strengthen my leadership skills.

Also, I’m never really one to speak much or try to initiate a friendship. Since I joined Bluxies it has really helped me come out a bit and have conversations with people in our community. Only recently I found a sister, I just started talking with her and I tell you I had the feeling of, “where have you been all my life!” She’s so warm and smart, beautiful, smart again and loving.

I enjoy having conversations with women in the community when we do, but having a friend who supports and gingers you is a blessing. Being her friend is one of my major highlights of the year!” — Deborah Akamelu.

“Being a part of the bluxies community has been a game-changer for me, especially when it comes to friendships. I've connected with amazing people who share similar passions and interests.

I've found a sense of belonging and community that feels incredible. My friendships are real, deep, and meaningful because we support and uplift each other.

To me, being 'just a girl' is about embracing my true self—flaws and all! It's about being vulnerable, strong, and unapologetically me. No pretenses, no apologies.

I'm grateful for the friendships and experiences that have shaped me into this person I am today.” — Mathina

“Being a Bluxie has been incredibly empowering for me, generally and relationship-wise. I've found a sense of belonging and support that I hadn't experienced before.

It's surreal having sisters all over the country who have my back.

The bi-weekly meetings and mental health check-ins have been my favorites.

I remember one time I had gone to get my hair done but the hairdresser really messed it up, we were having a meeting that day and I joined. I was on the verge of tears, talked about it during the mental health check-in and the support was everything. I left the meeting feeling great.

As a Bluxie, I've also experienced the power of sisterhood and support. I now better understand feminism and what it means to be a girl's girl.

I've also learned not to succumb to societal expectations but to embrace my individuality and strength. Overall, being a Bluxie has been a transformative experience that I'm grateful for.” — Promise Ziganubari

Bluxies Incorporated @1 is more than a celebration—it’s a reminder of the beauty that unfolds when women come together with purpose and love. In a year, we’ve built a community that uplifts, inspires, and nurtures the bonds of sisterhood.

As we create memories for our second year, we celebrate peak friendships' beauty. We remain committed to empowering each other, and our femininity, and turning every challenge into a shared triumph. Together, we’re not just stronger—we’re unstoppable. Cheers to celebrating more milestones reached and being a girl's girl!
